He Gives the Best Answers

Whatsoever thing ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is good, in faith believing that ye shall receive, behold, it shall be done unto you (Moroni 7:26).

He Gives the Best Answers

When I was five years old, my mother bought me a pet turtle. One day I was outside playing with my turtle, watching it slowly crawl through the tall blades of grass. Suddenly a loud noise distracted me, and I looked away. When I looked back my turtle was gone!

I searched and searched, but I couldn’t find the turtle. Then I remembered that my mother had taught me that Heavenly Father answers our prayers. I knelt on the lawn and asked Heavenly Father to help me find my turtle.

I finished my prayer, opened my eyes, and looked down. I expected to see my turtle. But it wasn’t there. And no matter where I looked or how much I prayed, I never did find my turtle.
I told my mom what happened and asked if I could have a new turtle. She said yes, but when she went back to the pet store, they had no more turtles. She found out that all the turtles at the store, including mine, had been infected with a disease that could have made me and my family members very sick.

Now, many years later, I can see that it was a great blessing that I didn’t find my turtle. I know now that Heavenly Father answers all our prayers. He knows what is best for us. Sometimes the answer is, “Yes.” Sometimes the answer is, “No.” Often the answer is, “No, because I have something better for you. Just be patient.”

Heavenly Father doesn’t always answer our prayers the way we want Him to answer them or when we want Him to answer them. Often we don’t understand why we receive the answers He gives us. But because Heavenly Father is kind and wants us to be happy, we know that He always gives us the very best answers.

I loved this article. Love it. Love it. Love it. This summer, my goal was to find a full time job, and work. Money is sometime I tend to stress over. Especially because I am going to serve an LDS mission when I turn 19. I decided to spend money that I had saved, and saved and SAVED, on a car.  I began praying to feel comforted over this. I recent learning that for me to serve a mission, it will cost about $7,200. I was under the impression it was about 10,000. When the time comes, I can receive $3,000-$4,000. From August of this year, to April of 2015, I would need to save between $3,000-$4,000. If I save about $150 per month, I can meet this goal. I also will be able to work more with a car, and this I can afford. The Lord didn't give me the money, I didn't want him to do that. But He gave me knowledge that is comforting, and I can realistically achieve this goal without relying on others. I am so grateful.

Dear Sister Thompson,

Have you ever read Dear Mr. Henshaw? It is one of my favorites.

Here is the Wikipedia summary:

Dear Mr. Henshaw begins with the book's main character, Leigh Botts, writing a letter to his favorite author, Boyd Henshaw. He continues to write him letters occasionally until the sixth grade when he is expected to write a report on an author. Naturally, he chooses to do it on Mr. Henshaw, and writes him a series of questions. Mr. Henshaw writes back with silly responses and some questions for Leigh to answer. At first Leigh is reluctant to reply to Mr. Henshaw, but his mother finds out and demands he reply because the author answered his questions. Through his answers to Mr. Henshaw, Leigh's personal matters are revealed, such as his struggles with his parents' divorce, his complex relationship with his father, being the new kid in school, and a mysterious thief stealing from his lunch. Later, Mr. Henshaw encourages Leigh to keep a diary of his thoughts and feelings, and the book then switches from a letter format to a diary, in which Leigh writes to Mr. Pretend Henshaw.

By writing to Mr. Henshaw, Leigh must learn to accept that there are parts of his life he cannot change. For example, his parents will never re-marry, people will continue to steal his lunch even though he has made a alarm for his lunch box, and that he can never count on his father to be available when he is needed but, he does pay support checks. He must deal with problems that many other children also have to cope with: feeling lonely because he is new in town, school assignments, etc.

I have a very close friend I email very often. I find myself not writing in my journal when I write to her, because I already wrote everything down to her. She has become my "Mr. Henshaw".

I am thinking of writing a memoir. I would call it Dear Sister Thompson. I would use my emails, journal entries (written and typed), and memories to write it. I am already compiling my writings. I know it is one of my "duties" to one day write a book.

First Post 07.08.13

I thought thinking of a name for my blog would be the hardest part. Nope. It is the first post.

I am one of those who want certain things from certain people. The only problem is, people will always fail me, because it is not their job to give me what I need. It is not fair of me to expect more of a person than they can give me. They don't do it purposely, they are only human. I am human. I know I failed people who needed something of me. We are learning to control our natural man, and teach our bodies yield to our spirit. The Lord must become my lone source of comfort and fulfill.

One of my favorite quotes: "When you have nothing left but God, you become aware that God is enough."

Yesterday, I had the realization while I was on a walk that I am not counting my blessings, but rather focusing on things I don't have. I am learning the Lord gives us everything we need from multiple sources.

*I had the chance to share my testimony.
*My friend stopped by (LOVE HIM!!).
*His mom was with him, and I received a big hug and words of love that were much needed.
*I am alive in these miraculous times.
*I have a healthy and caring family.
*I have several families who are near and dear to, who I consider to be a part of my family.
*I had another friend flip a U-turn and park very unsafely to simply just say hi to me.
*I will soon be in Arizona seeing my dad, and my besties.

I am loved. I must not question that, because the adversary will take the opportunity to fill my heart will sorrow, and opposition. I am loved.
